Description
Screenplay for the 2020 vintage played out with all the suspense of a thriller movie. It was the warmest year on record, devastating wildfires hit Australia and California, while temperatures in Siberia soared to 36°C, and the world contended with a pandemic. Fortunately, a vintage of outstanding quality meant that the year finished on a positive note. The growing season began with an early budding, and the different vineyard tasks were carried out in quick succession, as the team adapted to the required COVID health measures that had been put in place. The threat of downy mildew, which was all too real in the spring, subsided when an exceptionally hot and dry summer set in as from mid-June. After 2 months without a drop of rain, a downpour came to the rescue in mid-August and at last reinvigorated the vine cycle. The harvest was early and delivered tannin-rich, aromatic grapes that promised balanced, structured wines.
